| Unfortunately, it was not brought to light until now that
our WSUS server was reporting some issues with about 175 workstations in our
company. As a result, these workstations have not been receiving patches and
more importantly the DST patch. The problem resolves around some sort of
corruption of certain DLLs that control the Automatic Update process. I can
easily write a startup script to resolve this, however I need the workstations
to reboot. Tonight.
Is there a method to schedule workstations to reboot through
a GPO?
Thanks,
~Ben | | | |

why not just use psexec a batch file with psshutdown and
the at command to do the shutdown or have a scheduled task from your machine and
a text file of the systems to have them do the reboot after hours. Z

Good idea on using psexec with
psshutdown. I’ll work on that right now. Thanks for the tip Edward.
Thanks,

NO problem, its how I usually do all my shutdowns, I send
them a nice little message also, so they know its me, and dont call the
helpdesk.

| | The best you can do with GP is to write a VBS script that sets up a task scheduler job to do the shutdown at a specific time and then deliver that script via startup script. However, deliver of the script in the first place will require a reboot before the script will be run.
