The other thread has me wondering just exactly how often has a Schema
change (especially one FROM Microsoft for a Microsoft app) actually ³broken²
anything?

I know back in early 2000 days, there was a lot of emphasis put on the
³dangers² of schema modification, which went all the way up into management
levels in some environments, and persists to this day (it took me a month
and several meetings to convince my direct reports that we didn¹t need to
take precautions just to extend the schema for LCS 2005).

Proper schema extension is not breaking anything - however as schema
extensions might not be prepared correctly or applied correctly this
might cause some problems.

So You can have attributes which conflicts with other attributes and
will result in mangled attributes values ... this was a case with
Exchange and windows 2003 extensions.

You can have conflicting OIDs which may prevent you from applying these
extensions until you will not resolve it.

Most of things related to schema extension is just FUD related stuff,
which are result of some Microsoft communication back in time. We have
scared customers about it and right now we are gathering fruits of it.
