I actually had a client call me on Tuesday, all in a tizzy, because
suddenly, out of nowhere, their Exchange server wasn't connecting "outside".

My initial reaction was, of course, install 948496. No charge for that
advice. But it made no difference.

And, of course, they said "we haven't changed anything".

Four hours later I figured it out. They had added a second default gateway.
"Oh, I didn't think that was important."

BAH.

Because, of course, they said "we haven't changed anything" I spent a LONG
time trying to find an Exchange issue instead of a basic networking issue.

I'd REALLY like logging of changes to the network stack...

That actually is offered up in MU if you want to go that route.

I personally turned it off in the registry, the nic GUI and installed
those patches. I wasn't taking any chances given the list of possible
issues that can occur.

Every single time we have ...what we define as just network weirdness...
someone in our group says "Is this a sp2 box?" and 99 times out of 100
SP2's networking stuff has been at fault.

It will even occur as you are deploying a new slip installed SP2 box.
The Advanced networking stuff is installed and it's finally later that
we go 'duh'.

I'm sure there are folks that find that it works/helps them. I
personally would like to know who they are, because I think the list
would be small.
