Now this is fun...
The AD Schema contains the following attribute:

distinguishedName=CN=drink,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=ADCORP,DC=LAN
CN=drink
adminDescription=The drink (Favourite Drink) attribute type specifies the favorite drink of an object (or person).
isSingleValued=FALSE

;-)

Cheers,
Jorge

Yep I think that has been discussed here before. Maybe not. Even more fun is
that it isn't configured by default to be available on any objects.

There are quite a few items like that, I think you will find Sakari pointed
out a few in his book as well.

Yeah, I think a lot of it is carry-over from the legacy X.500 schema. I
remember the attribute being present in a number of early X.500
implementations as part of the Paradise project (an attempt in the early
90s to pilot a global directory using X.500). The UK English spelling
for "favourite" reflects the fact that a lot of the original schema
definitions were devised by Steve Kille at University College London.

Here's a good article for anyone who might be interested in some of the
history around X.500.

I like that it™s multi-valued. No
need to limit someone to a single favorite, despite that being a bit
contradictory J

Right, but the good admins have all got it added to the user class and
populated appropriately for their accounts. Of course they've also got a
tool for whoever handles these things to look up the data.

It's a good way of preparing management for what you want at the Christmas

We also put quantity in there!

Unfortunately, it's England only that has changed the
licensing laws and each landlord has to apply for an extension - it's not a
given :(

Not
sure which country speaks the Britisch language nor am I sure what a sigar
is :-^ Maybe you've been taking advantage of those new licensing laws, already

Talking about the Britisch... In the UK pub opening hours are around the clock since a week or so...I think a pub owner could introduce his own AD and use this very interesting attribute for his customers.. ;-)

I also looked if it had a sigar(s) attribute, but no luck! ;-)

Now this is fun...
The AD Schema contains the following attribute:

distinguishedName=CN=drink,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=ADCORP,DC=LAN
CN=drink
adminDescription=The drink (Favourite Drink) attribute type specifies the
favorite drink of an object (or person).
isSingleValued=FALSE

;-)

Cheers,

Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but why not just use a single
valued attribute?? Something along the lines of:

distinguishedName=CN=OpenBarTabIncludingSpirits,CN=Schema,CN=Configurati
on,DC=ADCORP,DC=LAN,CN=OpenBarTab adminDescription=Confirms for all and
sundry that management at this fine company are committed to sponsoring
your consumption (responsible or otherwise) of alcohol. Bring on the
Christmas parties Avanade!

It's a good way of preparing management for what you want at the
Christmas party.

We also put quantity in there!

Uhh..hmmm!

You're British, not American!  Don't forget
about Wales!  Cardiff has been on the news quite a bit - there's been that
much drunken violence...

Unfortunately, it's England only that has changed the
licensing laws and each landlord has to apply for an extension - it's not a
given :(

Not
sure which country speaks the Britisch language nor am I sure what a
sigar is :-^ Maybe you've been taking advantage of those new licensing laws,
already :)
