| Except no one budgeted nor planned for it and it likely will actually impact
both homes and businesses.
It is disturbing to me that we are this close to the implementation of
something that was decided a couple of years ago and MSFT is still putting
out tools for it.
Some coworkers and I were having Haiku wars earlier today (I lost horribly)
and then they went into Limericks and I gave up completely.... one of mine

I interpreted that as a new Exchange tool not an Outlook tool but in
hindsight and rereading I think you are right... but regardless.... I've
blown up enough Outlook profiles for now and I'll deal with the
bloodshed on March 12th. Whatever happens, happens.
(honest on) This has to be the worst handling of patching computers I
have ever seen and worse than security issues...too bad DST patches
couldn't be handled by the MSRC because quite frankly this is the most
unorganized mess I've seen in eons. And yes, while I can be politically
incorrect and blame the Government and George W for this disaster, the
fact that I've lost track of the revisions of tools, the updates to
pages, the patches still to come ... the permissions that need to be
reset on systems... the sheer "Change Management" that is being asked
the typical admin out here is ridiculous and is exposing firms to
Security risks as well...notice everyone on the Patch communities are
hardly talking about security ones....
I'm hoping my Dixon Ticonderoga #2 won't need patching come that
Monday. I'm probably going to find it needs one as well.
To come apparently? Yes?
One Outlook tool (maybe? but I don't care)
One CRM bundle
One DST patch on 2/26 for certain Mobile 5 Pocket pcs (details to come,
so sorry for the delay)
(and to think I thought it a good idea to move Daylight savings change
until after Halloween... I should have my head examined for that one)
Oh yeah..and Western Australia is asking why they didn't get such
attention when they went through this mess.

| Susan,
Any ideas what would happen if we push the tzmove /q to all our users
after patching the desktops, and before we run the 926666 Exchange
patch? I patched all our users today and now people are already
complaining :). Was thinking of pushing tzmove /q with SMS asap but our
Exchange guy wont be able to patch Exchange until Monday. What do you
think?

"* Do not install KB926666 patch on Exchange servers prior to rebase.
Install the patch after the rebase. Installing before the rebase will
cause OWA recurring meetings not to be updated. If you already have
KB926666 installed on the Exchange servers, uninstall it and (re)run the
Exchange tool."
That's actually the way to do it...
At this point in time... it's getting to the point where just patch the
dang things and deal with the bloodshed afterwards
Rebase first then 92666

| Which is exactly opposite of what they had us do before, and is exactly
opposite of what they said to do in the webcast.

| Patch the OS, then rebase, then 666 on Exchange. We got off the phone
with PSS an hour ago and the only reason to hold off on 666 is because
it "supposedly" won't fix recurring meetings set via OWA. But was also
told that this is not always the case, but appears to be the "best"
sequence to go. It appears that they have had "several" results with the
different scenarios. We were told that if you check the recurring
meeting box that it will probably still get the recurring meetings set
via OWA. My head is spinning.

So, I'm confused here. Can we patch the OS and not Exchange and still
do the rebase, or do we patch neither before the rebase?
