| Hi,
Is there a way to define power saving settings by GPO? A client asked to have their monitors going to standby after 30 minutes, but I'm not able to find a setting to control this.
Thanks, Bart

| Take a look at some 3rd party GPO extensions. They invariable require a CSE to be installed on all clients, but do add to the options available natively and will not require ADM templates nor tattooing of the registry.

| I don't have a problem tattooing the registry actually, if that's the only way without installing 3rd party tools. Certainly because it's a small client...
Thanks

| Bart-
You might want to check out this stuff, which is free and uses a combination of GP ADM settings and a service on the client. Also note that once Group Policy Preferences ships, power options are included in these extensions and are free.

| Just something to be aware of, at least with AMD's native driver Cool'n'quite only works when the minimal power management profile is selected. Why this was decided on I have NO clue, but trying maximum power saving or any other profile resulted in way, way more power being used because the cores never went into low speed, low power mode.
Thanks, Andrew

| Found a way to control it nice and easy... Based on my naming convention, I wrote a script that handles power scheme configuration by the tool powercfg.exe which is present on XP & W2K3 Server. Can be integrated in login script also if desired. Not as perfact as by working with a GPO but it does the trick.
Nice tool btw!

I think natively with Vista this can be done, not sure about XP
