My support center folks are getting an error on occasion when trying to
change a users password. It doesn't happen every time with every user and
when it does happen it is limited to one person trying on a certain user
account but others support center reps don't have the problem and the rep
that does get the error doesn't get it on other user accounts. Any ideas?

We had this problem years ago. Here is what MS told us at the time and
the command to "fix it" even though we didn't have any Netware in our
environment. It only happened on a half dozen accounts and once those
were reset, we never had the same problem again:

"As far as UserParameters go, AD interprets these attributes as
indicators that NetWare is included in the environment, and that the
passwords must be synchronized. This exact error message occurs when you
try to change the password on the nonexistent NetWare network (not on
the AD-based domain) because the required NetWare components are not
installed on the client.

Try resetting the account without netware components in the
userProperties property for this user:

Net user SAMACCOUNTNAME /fpnw:no"

Where SAMACCOUNTNAME is actually the user's account.
