| Hello everyone.
Not sure if this is possible or not, but my company is looking into the possibility to see if we can basically pull/query information from our active directory environment, get a list of our employees and put them into a Oracle database table?
I've been digging around a bit and have not been able to find anything really helpful.
Is it possible to do this with Oracle? I would assume I would need to use specific LDAP type queries within my select statement?
Then there are questions about how to properly connect to active directory from a Oracle database.
Appreciate the help.

| I'm not going to ask why, but, chances are your best bet is to schedule a job to export a flatfile and have Oracle pick it up. The opposite works too - write some code to do the inserts directly into oracle.
SQL supports linked servers and connecting them to AD although it is clunky.

| Ya, I kinda had a feeling that might be how we would need to do it.
Any suggestions or recommendations on how to go about doing that? That is, exporting the users from active directory into a file, which I can then import into a specific table in our Oracle DB?
Cheers

| How about using MIIS/ILM to do what you want?

| | This would be pretty simple with Powershell as well as it can easily get the
info from AD and directly input it into your DB.
If you interested let me know and I will get you going.

| I've done this with SQL - AD as a linked server and create a view which exposes the attributes you need. I doubt Oracle will be able to do this, however if you also have a SQL-Server sitting somewhere you might be able to query Oracle against SQL against AD
