We actually have a test environment and we have a plan that does start in test, however given the decentralization of our organization, it would be close to impossible to test every single outcome. And it's the one outcome you don't test that happens...and happens to the user that will complain the loudest.

Hence the post asking for others in a similar situation...

in addition to getting info from other orgs, why not setup a test environment a test it with the config you have/want?

You should test anyway!

Re-sending the below one last time just in case it was somehow overlooked.

This may have been asked before, but I don't see anything related in my ActiveDir folder and I still can't figure the online search archives (any search terms entered return zero results). Our AD DS upgrade is on hold right now, pending additional information from similar organizations...i.e. non-profit or educational, single forest yet highly decentralized, mixed client and server OS (Mac OS, Mac Server, XP, Windows 7, etc). Some of our concerns are: how the upgrade will affect the Mac OS/Mac Server users (especially since many of them are higher-level employees), and justifiable benefits to upgrading vs. staying at 2003 (in case something major happens and we're asked, 'why did we need to upgrade now'?)

If anyone with an environment similar to the above, who has successfully upgraded to 2008 AD DS, could respond, it would be very helpful.

Feel free to ask clarification questions: I'm juggling fifty things at the moment so this may not be as coherent as I think it is.

Thanks,
CJH
