When I first started attending TEC it was DEC and its core focus was around
Active Directory and Identity - which was great as there was nothing else
out there in that space.

Moving forward 5 years and I now find TEC becoming less focused on Active
Directory and Identity and more generalised in the Windows space and for me
I now find it hard to justify attending TEC, over say TechED, Techmentor or
WinConnections.

I would personally like to see TEC go back to its roots and focus primarily
on the Directory space as that's why I originally started to attend.

But in response to your question, no I probably would not attend the session
because VDI is not relevant to what I do.

Subject: [ActiveDir] Quick poll for TEC 2010 session re: VDI

Greetings all,

I was hoping you could provide me with your opinions regarding a debate
we've been having internally about a proposed virtual desktop infrastructure
(VDI) session for TEC in LA. The debate centers around whether VDI is a
relevant or interesting topic for the TEC directory and identity audience.

One side of the debate: The session isn't relevant because AD and identity
engineers/architects aren't generally tasked with virtualization projects,
and if they are, they are generally server and DC virtualization projects.
Desktop projects don't usually land on the AD/Identity guys lap.

The other side of the debate: AD and identity engineers/architects are
becoming multi-roled in light of today's economics, and given
virtualization's huge traction, VDI would be an interesting and relevant
topic to the TEC directory and identity attendees.

My questions to you:

Would you be interested in attending a VDI session at TEC?

See you in LA.

-gil
