| Hi Everyone,
I was trying to visually represent the famous DC Locator Process flow since
I could not find such diagram around..thought it might come in handy for AD
topology design and troubleshooting purposes.

| hi,
this is a great idea and i could use something like this, however i'm having
trouble following it. most likely because i don't actually understand the
process completely. do you have a technet article or similar document that
details the process?
i think once you have a good understanding of the process in detail, then
using a flowchart with summary details like this one as a quick reference
would be beneficial.

Hi Gabriele,
The process looks pretty good, here are a few comments:
You have added the API names for a few of the process, I think you should
add them for the rest of the processes i.e. DsGetSiteName, cldap_open,
ldap_open, but that may complicate the diagram.
The return from the bottom right box DC Returns the client site name that
is stored by the client to DynamicSiteName to the Site Specific DNSQuery,
this could possibly cause an endless loop. Im not sure if this documented
in the reference articles you used, but there is probably a repeat of a
Already tried to contract optimal DC and then use the non optimal DC
logic.
