From my perspective:

1) Pro: changes to network settings can be done on the DHCP
server (DNS, WINS, domain, etc)

2) Con: The only negative thing I found is that it adds
another layer of administration to a static IP request.
If users/customers/vendors are used to requesting IP addresses when coming
into your shop and not worrying about MAC addresses for reservations. You would
be surprise how many times I've had to explain that a DHCP reservation serves
the same purpose as a static IP address.

3) Con: There is no way to tell from the client side that
the IP address is a DHCP "reservation". I don't know why that would matter but
our desktop support wanted to know this. I make my reservations at the high end
of the scope and I also run a batch file (dhcpcmd) that populates a share that
desktop support has access to. The goal with this last item is that it
shows the reserved IP address as "Expires = Never (lease duration is
infinite.)"

Dhcpcmd dhcpserver_ipaddress
EnumClients dhcp_scope -v > \\server\share\dhcp_scope.txt

For example:

Dhcpcmd
10.64.1.176 EnumClients 10.25.0.0 -v > \\phx00134\Support\junk\dhcp\10.25.0.0_dhcp.txt

What are the pros and cons of using reservation with unlimited lease
instead of static addresses for servers and network printers?

Thanks a lot.
