| Hello,
I have to mass modify the proxyadresses attributes for users in this way: - Replace the Site name in the X400 adress with a new name. - Replace the secondary adress (smtp:bla bla) with a new one.
Is this possible with adfind/admod ?
Thx

| | Assume it is possible, but is there a reason that you would not do this with
policies?

| This is almost certainly a bad idea. But sure, it can be done.
What is the business case for wanting to do this?

| It will break meetings for one. Outlook client sometimes caches the X400 addr int he little dropdown autocomplete thing as well I've noticed.
--brian
Add an additional X400 and keep the old one.

Hmmmm ... X400 ... I know that Outlook caches value from legacyExchangeDN and when you change it without taking care about storing old value it will break autocomplete on client side

| I was under the impression that X500 addresses where used in Outlook cache (and LegacyExchangeDN).
Anyhow, just add the new X400 as an additional one..

| Hello,
The X400 proxy is like this: c=FR;a=META;p=MyEntrerprise;o=MyOrg;s=myemail@myentreprise.fr
id'like to modify the organisation name (o=MyOrg to o=whatelse).
Thx for your help,
Yann

Very likely this doesn't require a script, adfind piped to admod can likely handle it. Just need details on the specifics of what needs to be done.

Hi Yann,
Create a script that queries those users and add’s a new x400 address.
Changing the current X400 could interfere with the Exchange internal mail processing (Exchange 2000/2003/5.5).
Adding a 2nd X400 is not a problem. X400 addresses can simply be added to the proxyaddresses field by using the APPEND command
Set objConnection = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") objConnection.Provider = "ADsDSOObject" objConnection.Open "Active Directory Provider"
Set objCommand = CreateObject("ADODB.Command") objCommand.ActiveConnection = objConnection objCommand.Properties("Page Size") = 1000
strQuery = "<"& strDomain &">;(&(objectCategory=person)(proxyaddresses=*)(!(proxyAddresses=x400:*)))" StrQuery = strQuery & ";adspath,proxyAddresses,distinguishedName,cn;subtree" log strQuery objCommand.CommandText = strQuery
Set objRecordSet = objCommand.Execute intRecords = objRecordSet.RecordCount log " # reported : " & intRecords If intRecords = 0 Then log "No records found, exiting." Exit sub End If
objRecordSet.MoveFirst While Not objRecordSet.EOF Set gobjUser = GetObject(objRecordSet.Fields("adspath")) gobjUser.PutEx ADS_PROPERTY_APPEND, “proxyaddresses”, Array(<NEW X400> Next
etc etc.. offcourse you need to edit a bit to suite your environment and what you exactly want to do
But joe probably has a shortcut J

Hello all,
Sorry for the delay.... hard work today !
We wanted to modify the X400 proxy for users for which the Recipeint policies are not applied. It will be a bit longer to explain the why "we" proceed as this, but to resume: For some users, we don't want the RUS to apply Recipent Policies. And for these users only, we want to modify the Site Name in their X400 proxy.
Thx,
Yann

| Just modify this one to fit x400 (small x) and add your new one with a capital X400 in the proxy addresses field..
Then you do not break anything, but future communications inside exchange will use the new X400 address.
