Hi all,

I was working with msft support and was told to re-install .NET framework to
fix an automatic update issue (that had to do with .net framework) after
doing so it seems that my ssl certificate got changed - my autodiscover for
exchange is coming up with a security alert that saqys

"The certificate is froma trusted certifying authority"
"The Security certificate is valid."
X"the name of the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name
of the site."

I attempted the solution from this site -->
http://www.pro-exchange.be/modules.php?name=News&file=print&sid=345 (The
picture on this site is exactly what is seen as users sign into outlook in
the morning)
along with this one http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/940726

Aaron
p.s. if this is too far off topic can someone point me to an exchange
mailing list?

Have you tried to reinstall your certificate? Also, if your internal
and external server names are different, you will need to make sure
that they are what they need to be.

You can check that by running:
Get-OABVirtualDirectory

Also, there is an Exchange 2007 list here:
http://tech.dir.groups.yahoo.com/group/exchange2007/?v=1&t=directory&ch=web&pub=groups&sec=dir&slk=2

for a split-name server, you'll need a Subject Alternative Name certificate.

SO, as an update - I have found this article
http://kbalertz.com/958934/Outlook-crashes-after-install-package-contains-Framework-Framework-Exchange-Client-Access-server.aspx

which eventually pointed me to this hotfix
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/952883

I called msft and they said this hotfix is no longer available. :(

if anyone knows of another solution let me know - it appears that it has
nothing to do with the certificate, its about the framework (which is what I
originally changed so that makes a lot more sense). If anyone knows of an
alternate solution let me know. Thanks for all of your help! this mailing
list is awesome!

Currently still working on it - yes I tried re-installing the certificate.
as for Brians question it appears a different support tech told me that it
was fixed in the net 2.0 sp 2 update. ironically - it appears that that
specific one wasnt on my list from the tech support - although I shouldve
verified what he had me do instead of simply doing it.

currently I was told to download and use thsi net frame cleaner
http://astebner.sts.winisp.net/Tools/dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip

I wish I had a lab server to test all of this on - each change I make I find
myself hoping that this server doesnt die on me.
