I can confirm this, our DR file server is a DL320s full of 750GB drives,
it definitely needed GPT to use the data partition effectively =) No
problems with Server 03, 2k Pro, XP or Vista clients.

No problems, then.

I don't think there's an upper limit for SMB share size. There are
practical limitations (size of volume, data protection, number of
files) that come into play long before that would happen, anyway.
