| Goodness gratious....
I was sitting here working away on the finishing pieces of AdFind V01.39.00...
specifically testing and cleaning up the output for decoding of dsheuristics (yeah still isn't very pretty)... >dSHeuristics: COLS 123456789X123456789X123456789X >dSHeuristics: VALUE=0000000001001 >dSHeuristics: ADS_RIGHT_ACTRL_DS_LIST-REQ_ON_PARENT (DEFAULT) >dSHeuristics: ALL_PERMISSIVE_MODIFY_OFF (DEFAULT) >dSHeuristics: ALWAYS_RETURN_DSID (DEFAULT) >dSHeuristics: DISALLOW_ANONYMOUS_NSPI (DEFAULT) >dSHeuristics: USER_PASSWORD_ATTR_IS_NOT_REAL_PASSWORD (DEFAULT) >dSHeuristics: VALID_10_BYTE >dSHeuristics: DISALLOW_SPECIFY_GUID_ON_ADD (DEFAULT) >dSHeuristics: STANDARDIZE_SECURITY_DESCRIPTORS (DEFAULT) >dSHeuristics: ADAM_INSECURE_CONNECTION_ALLOWED_FOR_PWD_OPS
...when out on my porch there arose such a clatter (sounded like a refrigerator being dropped) and my doorbell rang so I sprang from my LovSac Rocker to see what was the matter... Away to my door I flew like a flash, tore open the door to see a big ol UPS box. I lifted the box and strained my entire back thinking the whole time... holy crap.
I tore open the box, hoping to see a mess of new BluRay discs but alas I was to be surprised by one lonely book. Active Directory Cookbook 3rd Edition. I was in absolute shock at how big and fat this book is... Until I recalled Laura added a few PowerShell examples... Explains it all...
Laura, if you intend to carry these around to give out, please get a gym membership and strengthen up first... I don't want to see you injuring yourself too much. I am going to go look for a Oak desk for my office, my Ikea glass desk is not going to be able to support the weight of this OED competitor and this is usually a book I have somewhere on my desk if only to swat at flies....Now of course I could use it to kill the wild turkeys that trot through my back yard if only I can figure out how to get it up the stairs and huck it at them.
Congratulations!
joe

| Yes yes, very nice.
Needed to do that to save on ink so you could print the PowerShell examples...

Dude, you crack me up.
(And I want you to take notice of the fact that your name is capitalized ===CORRECTLY=== throughout the book, including on the back cover. I had to fight the editors off with a whip and a chair to keep them from capitalizing all of those j's. :-))

| So this is a bonus not only do I get an outstanding AD book but I also get to work on the New Year's Resolution about working out more J
The cookbook is one of the books that I like to have at home and at work so I have ordered two copies anyway. I hate leaving it at one location and not having it to reference. It is definitely one of my goto AD books.
Thanks for writing the book Laura!! Writing the 3rd edition AD cookbook or the AD 4th edition like Brian and Joe just did seems like an overwhelming task. I'm really thankful that you all take the time to do it. It really helps us all.
Thanks
Mike

| I received my copy of the cookbook today (I've been traveling since Christmas). I like how it turned out.
If it ever gets another chapter, it might need splitting into two volumes. J

I was the primary reviewer for both books. Brian and Laura did the heavy lifting. Though I did, to be honest, spend an inordinant amount of time on the original PowerShell chapters written for AD4E that definitely went above and beyond the normal reviewer time frame. I don't believe I have seen the final result that went into the book yet.
