Hello,

We currently have 2 Exchange 2003 servers, at some point a system
administrator installed an Exchange 2007 in the network , that server
never had any mailbox, later on, that server got destroy but AD was
never cleaned. It gets better , we have a document from where we pick
names for server, another system administrator deployed a new file
server which is still in production, but which has the name of the email
server.

I was going to run EXsetup /uninstall option but I am wondering if that
is going to affect the file server in any way? Will it try to remove
that name from AD?

Thanks in advance?

Ramon

Are both of those admins still there ? :)

Uninstalling Exchange should not remove the computer account from the AD.
But you will hear from an expert on this.

What Rick said.

A much better question is - what are you trying to actually do?

I want to install a new Exchange 2007 which is going to replace our
Exchange 2003.

In the Exchange system manager I can still see Administrative Group and
the server that the 2007 installation created.

Exchange 2007 creates a custom administrative group that is the same name no
matter what you install or where or when. It's not visible in an Exchange
2007 console (as all Exchange 2007 and above servers are members of that
single administrative group).

Once you have Exchange 2007 installed in your organization on another
server, you can easy delete the server from either the EMC or EMS.

I wouldn't sweat it right now.
