Hi All,

Good Day...

We are upgrading our existing windows server 2003 environment to windows
server 2008.Our forest and domain schema are prepared for this upgrade.we r
going to build and add a new ws2008 server in existing 2003 native mode.
As i was going through the installation procedures, i found out that, before
i run DCPromo, i need to configure AD Domain services in the initial
configuration wizard.

If i skip this part and do the dcpromo directly, will it work? will there be
any features missing if i skip this part...

Kindly help. Thanks for your time in this.

Negative. I believe all adding ADDS does is add the ADWS and ADAC, the
DC will promote fine with direct dcpromo. You can add the rest of the
stuff later when you wish.

You can just run dcpromo.

You dont have to go all the way from wizard by adding a role/feature, just
start – run - dcpromo
