Not that I'm aware of, but I'm having a hard time locating any other option.

Hello, everyone. I have a very simple 2K3-functional-level AD with two
DC's. One of them is having major FRS issues. Since the machine is old,
and I have a new server ready to come in, I made the decision to finally
move all operations masters roles off the old machine to the newer DC
already in place. Once I've got the new machine setup, I'll ADPrep for 2K8,
put the new one in place, upgrade the now-mid-tier one to 2K8 R2, DCPromo
the old one to a member server, and then update the AD to 2K8.

Feedback appreciated, but I have a more immediate issue. About 10 minutes
after I moved master roles, one of my users reported that one of the
departmental shares lost about 80% of the data in it. The modified
date/time is within a few minutes of the changeover. I should have waited
overnight, I suppose, but it was *very* early in the workday, and people
were still coming in. On a small AD like this, I thought the changeover
would be rapid and unnoticed.

It's one lone folder and many subfolders. Does it make sense that changing
Infrastructure, RID, and Operations masters roles in rapid succession (I got
a success message on each one before moving to the next) would do this to a
folder, or am I looking at "someone" having done a delete and/or move on the
folders in question? The folder *does* reside on the new DC, the one to
which I was changing these master roles. But I see no other folders
affected like this.
